Too often video games forsake imagination, or fall back on the crutches of exposition, or consider gameplay a secondary factor and forget that gamers are not merely viewers but participants as well.ģ) I'd abandon traditional leveling and super-powered weapons, and replace grinding for loot and experience with a honing of one's skills. ![]() ![]() I'd lay waste to the notion that games ought merely to ape film, drenching themselves in cutscenes and cinematics. Finding a Balder Side Sword in Dark Souls was meaningful finding legendary items in most action-RPGs, not so much.Ģ) I'd put a stop to all this stifling linearity, to stories that leave nothing to the imagination. I love loot the same way an addict loves his drug of choice-but I only care about loot when it's meaningful. ![]() ![]() Here's what my game would look like or, rather, what it would not look like:ġ) I'd do away with mobs and with the frenetic loot gathering we see in so many of these games. ![]()
